Indian Market in Santa Fe

Hello friends and family!

Well, I am tying a blog….they made a movie off of Julie’s blog….Have you all seen that movie?  What a cute picture….I loved every minute of it….Now, I want that great ‘motor and pestle’ that Julia Child’s husband gave her!!!!! HUGE!

Oh my….you could grind enough herbs in there to last centuries!!!!  I still am thinking about that movie…and wondering….now where is my Julia Child’s cookbook?  If anything, this cute story has inspired me to get into the kitchen and at least start grinding some herbs!  (more on that later!)

Here in Santa Fe, the summer builds and builds toward Indian Market! and the population swells to about 1 million—so they tell me…the traffic justifies that for sure!!!!  I had out of town clients actually staying with me that week…..we were searching for the perfect home for them…and we found several that would work….now, just getting everything going for them.  But back to Indian Market….oh my!!!!  My dear friends, John and David, had a kick off party on Thursday night….”Sunset Margaritas”….and they have the perfect home for it! Gorgeous views of the whole Jemez Mountain Range with the setting sun….oh my!  and lots of friends from Texas, celebrities, artists of every flavor were there…and we ate and laughed and visited and enjoyed those sunset margaritas!  The cuisine was all homemade by David and his crew….absolutely delicioso!  Thankfully there were leftovers for us to enjoy the next day…..which brings me to the Indian Market Awards evening….absolutely the best of the best for judging…

There were so many beautiful things….pottery, jewelry, paintings, clothing, bead work, drums, sculpture…how did anyone make a choice?  There was this silver belt that was truly a masterpiece and a silver shawl that was stunning….especially on my friend John!!!!  It was an evening of delight! Then Saturday….it was the Gala!!!  At the La Fonda Hotel!!!! starting with drinks and the silent auction on the outdoor portal at sunset, then finishing with as wonderful dinner and live auction. Afterwards, we headed to the bar downstairs and dances to a live band ’til we couldn’t walk anymore!  And that’s not all…..the next morning we went to a Garden Brunch in Tesuque at the home of Cheryl and Bill Jamison…..the authors of those wonderful Santa Fe Cookbooks!  Their home used to be a dairy at the turn of the century….so very interesting….and we learned a lot about BBQ and seafood on the grill.  This luncheon benefited “Kitchen Angels” — an organization that serves free meals to homebound folks (ages 18 to 62)  in the Santa Fe area.  It was a wonderful atmosphere and delicious luncheon…….as fabulous finish to a sensational weekend!  Yes, this was Indian Market at it’s finest!…And, then there was this gentleman from Texas named Jerry…..(more on that later as well).
